Under general supervision of the Director of Finance, the Utility Billing Supervisor is responsible for performing complex administrative and clerical work requiring specialized knowledge of customer service, and billing and collections operations policies and procedures. Assist in the management and operation of clerical positions in the Utility billing office and receive service requests from the public and other City operations. Will perform other duties as assigned. Supervise and evaluate up to three (3) employees. Perform routine clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, processing payments, preparing deposits. Plan, schedule and assign resources to accomplish tasks and direct work. Receive the public and answer questions; respond to inquiries from employees, citizens and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons. Respond to customer complaints by gathering information, routing to proper department and following up to ensure the complaint is resolved. Work with departments in developing a high customer service satisfaction level. Prepare, evaluate and monitor work orders for Meter Reader/Customer Service Technicians. Compose, type, and edit a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions and supervision. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and have a helpful attitude when dealing with the public and others. Maintain budget files and departmental personnel records. Able to handle irate customers and resolve conflicts while maintaining a professional image. Perform other duties as assigned. |
