Student Disability Services
Responsiblities
Coordinate the Student Disability Services Testing Center in compliance with the mandates of the ADA, ADAA, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Manage all aspects of the SDS Testing Center:
Schedule and arrange all details for testing, such as dates, room assignments and resources needed
Hire, train and supervise proctors
Collaborate with faculty, students and disability counselors regarding testing accommodations
Provide scribe and reader accommodations as needed
Maintains records and prepare reports of testing services provided
Orient and train students and faculty on the use of the Testing Center
Research, evaluate, maintain, and oversee utilization of adaptive equipment and software needed for student accommodations and provide input to the department regarding equipment purchase and maintenance.
Facilitate training and ongoing support to students with assistive technology needs.
Academic Testing:
Register, process payments, and administer academic testing activities (CLEP, DSST, and placement exams)
Supports testing development and operations for a variety of academic tests
Arranges details for testing, such as dates, room assignments and resources needed
Ensures compliance with test security protocols and timely notifications of results
Oversees testing record keeping and file maintenance, including daily and monthly billing reports
Maintains and prepares analytical and statistical reports and records for management of testing services
Maintains up-to-date testing information for brochures and web page
Support and assist SDS department by: creating and distributing accommodation letters for continuing students with disabilities, scanning and indexing confidential documentation, and maintain SDS website
Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate offices (such as AVP for Academic Affairs and Deans offices) in order to coordinate services
Make appropriate referrals to other student service areas and academic departments
Maintain student records in a confidential manner
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree required.
2 years experience working in higher education
Experience working with assistive and emerging technology (hardware and software) is preferred.
Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act requirements.
Website development, including knowledge of web accessibility challenges preferred.
Must work effectively with a diverse student population.
Demonstrated ability to be well-organized, set priorities, and work independently
Strong interpersonal skills required, including ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional and confidential manner.
Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
