Broadcom’s AirForce family of 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN solutions are enabled across many product platforms. Wi-Fi based products are very rapidly growing, driven by Broadcom’s innovation and technology leadership. We’re looking for energetic, enthusiastic and driven engineers excited about 802.11 wireless networking, network protocols and embedded system requirements.
We are looking for an exceptional talented hands on software engineering manager to lead the mobility WLAN technologies development. The team is responsible for creating cutting edge WLAN technologies with immediate real world uses. Primary responsibilities are WL components for ARM to contribute to the success of BRCM mobility Wifi product lines along with reference Host side implementations. The manager will be responsible for technical guidance and oversight around Firmware and device driver development for Broadcom’s mobility products.
In this role you will:
* Manage a team of 5 individual contributors.
* Oversee development, enhancement and maintenance of our WLAN mobility Firmware and reference driver development.
* Propose and oversee optimization features for robustness and power savings.
* Communicate goals, requirements, technical direction, and status with local management and Marketing.
* Provide technical mentor-ship for local and remote teams.
* Manage design, implementation, test and debug of new embedded and networking features.
* Resolve system level performance, size, and memory issues related to embedded ARM based systems.
* Typically requires a BS degree and 12 years of experience or an MS degree and 9 years of experience or a PhD and 6 years of experience.
* 3 plus years of technical management.
* Must have strong embedded systems, Linux, device drivers, common bus (PCIe, USB, SDIO) development experience and have both experience and interest in technical leadership.
* Must have strong understanding of networking and TCP/IP stack.
* Strong knowledge of WLAN or other RF networking technologies is highly desired.
* Thorough understanding of embedded system primitives such as timers, DMA, interrupts, cache configuration and device registration.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
