Providing radio frequency, baseband, system and complete software support to OEMs and system integrators, Broadcom’s Bluetooth chips enable the wireless sharing of data among scores of electronic devices from mobile phones and wireless stereo headsets to game controllers and automobiles.






 






In this unique position, you will not only have functions as an Applications Engineer (AE) but will also be part of early development. You will be involved with both Bluetooth RF Silicon Solutions and Bluetooth Hardware Solutions.






 






Qualified candidates should have experience designing and debugging platforms with co-existing radios such as Bluetooth, FM, WLAN, Wimax, GPS and Cellular radios. HW AEs need to be comfortable working with strategic technology partner companies.  AEs will interact with both marketing and engineering to support customers to adapt Bluetooth & FM technologies to new platforms and solutions. Successful candidates will support customer reference design development, implementation and migration to high volume manufacturing. They will assist customers with platform design, debug, test, and QA when needed.






 






Successful candidates will also design and develop demo HW and proof-of-concept HW as needed. They will assist with special RF optimization projects such as antenna matching and new front-end designs. They will also be training Broadcom’s sales teams and FAE’s as required.  They should possess strong communication skills and the ability to work through technical issues with customers as required. Position will require 15% international travel.






 






BSEE and 5+ years/MSEE and 3+ years of RF/HW board and system level understanding of RF/digital communications architecture.  Strong hands on skills and good working knowledge of RF test and verification equipment such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, frequency/function generators, and an understanding of audio analyzers such as the Rohde & Schwarz UPV.   RF/HW board and system level troubleshooting skills including antenna and RF network matching are required. Proven ability to use RF knowledge to optimize layouts, antenna matching, power supply and critical node filtering.  The candidate should be familiar with PC and/or cell phone & embedded architectures.   Some experience with FM, RDS/RBDS, audio, cellular systems, WLAN and GPS systems is beneficial.






 






Fundamentally, your role is to help customers bring their products to market rapidly and successfully. You will contribute directly to the success of the products and customers that you support. You will be involved in many of the following duties and responsibilities:


– Support of architecture and low-level HW questions



– Pre-sales and post-sales support via email, phone, and customer visits



– Documentation



– Debugging of complicated issues and problems



– Board level bring up



– Demo development



– Training of customers and Field Applications Engineers
