The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15 countries and at over 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. Job Summary
Overview:
The Programmer develops, maintains and supports the Foundation’s dot net (.net) and SQL-based applications including the Global AIDS System for Evaluation and Reporting (GLASER) and the Contracts and Grants System (CGIS). The Programmer works with EGPAF system owners, IT staff and consultants to design, implement and support software enhancements. The Programmer works closely with system managers to ensure systems are stable and that data across relevant systems are integrated and compatible.
Job Responsibilities:
Software Programming
- Uses appropriate tools, languages and platforms to develop, optimize and modify EGPAF custom-built software applications. Identifies and corrects problems in existing applications. Develops appropriate written and coded technical documentation as required.
Analysis
- Works with system owners to identify documents and analyze new software requirements and provides creative solutions by combining technical knowledge with corporate goals and IT strategy. Analyzes, recommends and implements software solutions based on business needs. Supports network engineers in the deployment, configuration and repair of system databases servers.
Interaction
- Interacts closely with EGPAF’s other software programmers and consultants to learn the systems’ code and functionality. The Programmer works with the Business Systems Manager to manage software resources to ensure systems are properly supported and budgets are met.
General
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all staff. Provides strong written and verbal communication to domestic and international colleagues. Acquires and develops professional skills that benefit EGPAF and the individual.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or similar field and at least four years of relevant professional experience
- Three years’ experience in a major programming language (preferably: ASP.NET,C#)
- Three years enterprise database expertise (preferably SQL server)
- Three years’ experience developing or maintaining complex web-based systems (preferably financial or health care-related)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design and programming
- Business intelligence reporting expertise (prefer MS SQL Services Reporting)
- Current relevant technical certifications
- Web application development (HTML, XML, JavaScript, JQuery etc)
- User interface or report design experience
- API development
- Visual Studio 2005/2010
- SQL Server 2005/2008
