The Division of Administration Bureau of Facilities Planning and Administrative Services is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, hardworking, ambitious individual to serve in the capacity of Motor Vehicle Operator within our Transportation Unit. Facilities Planning and Administrative Services provide a myriad of key critical services and serve as a pillar to the Agency.
The proposed incumbent will be assigned to the following assignments/tasks but not be limited to:
- Operate one or more types of motor vehicles such as a passenger car, van, truck, wrecker, forklift, tractor trailer truck or sign-erecting truck.
- Assist in loading and unloading of materials, equipment and passengers.
- Provide DOHMH support for transporting program supplies, materials, equipment and furniture.
- Transport specimens consistent with laboratory and clinic protocols and schedules.
- Operate a tow truck and associated duties.
- Prepare appropriate trip records related to daily assigned vehicle.
- Report any accident in which the vehicle may have been involved.
- Follow agency procedures for pickups and deliveries of materials, supplies and equipment.
- Check the tires, oil and fuel of the vehicle, replenish fluids as needed, and check the vehicle to see that lights, horn and brakes appear to be operating properly.
- Handle emergencies as they arise.
- Other assignments as mandated by the Director of Transportation Unit.

Education and Experience Requirements: There are no formal education or experience requirements.
Driver License Requirement: By the time you are appointed to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension(s) or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.

License Requirements:
A. Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York at the
time of appointment.
B. For appointment to certain positions in some agencies, possession of a Class A, B
or C Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York, or a combination
of these licenses, or possession of a valid New York State Learner’s Permit for a
Class A, B or C Commercial Driver License, may be required. A candidate with
a Learner’s Permit must obtain the appropriate driver license within three months
from the date of appointment.
C. History of serious moving violations, license suspension or serious accidents may
disqualify for appointment. Employees must maintain the appropriate driver
license(s) for the duration of their employment.
