Performs routine, repetitive and exacting work in the operation of a telephone switchboard in a state agency. Work involves placing, answering, and transferring local and long distance calls: using computer to perform clerical tasks. Assigned tasks are performed according to standard practice instructions, which do not require a close check of specific details of performance. Works directly under supervision of the Director of Support Services with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Requires strong verbal and written communications skills.
Must have knowledge of computer base switchboard operation.
Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
Ability to transfer incoming calls to appropriate personnel and to perform routine clerical duties.

Initial Selection Criteria:
One-year clerical experience
High School diploma or GED
One or more years of experience in communications field
Any past communications experience has been hospital related.
Able to work rotating shifts and weekends
Must be bilingual

Working Schedule DOES include Weekends and Holidays. Applicant will be required to attend a two week orientation Monday – Friday, 8A to 5P prior to starting on the assigned rotating shift.
