Cashier Supervisor - NorthWest Arkansas Community College - Bentonville, AR

The Administrative Support Supervisor is responsible for supervising the activities of support level personnel within an assigned department or program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Act as a liaison between the Treasurer’s office and the Director of Treasury Services. Assist the cashiers with day-to-day operations and plan cashier work schedule. Assist cashiers with end of the day reconciliation. Responsible for training new cashiers on equipment and procedures and other duties necessary to run the Cashier area efficiently and effectively. Assist the Director of Treasury Services with interviewing applicants for cashier’s position and make recommendation for employment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The essential duties of the Cashier Supervisor are comparable to those of Cashier. In addition to the normal duties of Cashier, this position will assume the following duties specific to the Supervisor role:


1. Ensures the accurate, efficient processing of student payments and other college income through proper cash management and compliance with college policies and procedures.


2. Monitor and oversee the work of the cashiers on a day-to-day basis. Assign the workload to the cashiers on a daily basis and makes decisions on various daily workload demands.


3. Serves as key contact for cashiers needing assistance with account or student problems.


4. Provides training and guidance to regular and back-up cashiering staff. Ensures that regular and back-up cashiers are aware of procedural changes within the office.


5. Assists regular and back-up cashiers with error correction and balancing.


6. Promotes a positive image of the Treasurer’s Office when handling customer problems by treating each individual with respect and resolving their concerns/complaints in a professional manner. May intervene on the behalf of cashiers.


7. Communicates and coordinates with the Director of Treasury Services regarding staff training, office coverage (vacation requests, unexpected absences), operational and other job related issues. Participates and makes recommendations regarding performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.


8. Handles all cash transfers to and from the campus vault, including preparation of daily cashier tills and emergency tills, and purchase or sale of currency and coin from central cash vault. Ensures high level of security of cash operations. Order currency from bank to maintain adequate cash supplies; monitors change fund.


9. Process and post non-sufficient funds ( NSF ) checks.


10. Monitor student account processes and implement collection procedures.


11. Maintains Cashier Procedures and updates as necessary.


12. Ensures that relevant information is posted and visible to students, staff and the general public.


13. Monitor cashiering supplies inventory and prepare purchase requisitions as needed.


14. Contributes to the overall success of the Treasurer’s Office by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.


SALARY : $12.76/hr. This is a full time position with benefits.

Required Qualifications:
The formal education of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field; plus four years of experience in administrative support, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.

Ability to resolve operational problems. Ability to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reports to the supervisor.


Preferred Qualifications:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Some college experience or Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or related field.


Supervisory or lead worker experience in a fiscal operation.


Customer service experience with high volume traffic.


Large volume cash handling or banking experience.


Experience working in Higher Education.
