Jamison Professional Services, Inc. (“JPS”) is currently seeking qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Deckhand I

Job Description:

Work may be on vessels ranging in size from small craft to Class III vessels. Sample gear includes but is not limited to beach seines, purse seines, and trawls. As an entry level position, a Deckhand I must use competency and sound judgment in all operations. They would

work closely with boat operator and project biologist to sample safely

and consistently. They must respect all equipment and vessels, and report damages promptly. Duties include deployment and retrieval of sample gear, fueling all vessels, removing debris from the sample gear, assisting in net transfers, inspecting and maintaining lines, and limited net mending. Work safely aboard vessels and on docks. Watch, respond to and notify others of vessel traffic. A Deckhand I must maintain a professional appearance and attitude and work well with others.


Experience required

Minimum of 1 year of experience aboard fishing or other vessels, which included duties such as net deployment and retrieval, net repair and line handling.


Education required


High school diploma or equivalent.


U.S. Citizenship: Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
