Performs intermediate technical work receiving and dispatching law enforcement, fire and medical services calls, receiving and processing non-emergency service calls, assisting public with informational requests, preparing and maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Receives and disseminates information thru the use of computers linked to the Virginia Criminal Information Network. Fast paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to multitask are a must. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferably supplemented with some work experience with Police and/or Fire and Rescue; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Those offered employment will be required to become certified to operate the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), successfully pass Basic Dispatch Certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within 1 year of employment. Must pass back ground investigation and criminal history screening. THIS POSITION REQUIRES 12 HOUR ROTATING SHIFTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
