Program Support Associate II - St. Croix County, WI - New Richmond, WI

This is responsible, paraprofessional work providing programmatic services to support the needs of the department. This position performs a variety of duties to promote adult and family preservation and assist social workers in providing services.

Performs intermediate skilled human services support work assisting client and their natural/formal supports, working with clients regarding employment skills, parenting skills, transporting clients, providing safety supervision, developing community-based resources and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Department Supervisor or Administrator.

The Program Support Associate II differs from that of a Program Support Associate I by the distinct difference in essential duties including assisting clients and/or their natural supports in the home or workplace.


The Program Support Associate I remains in the office and performs duties that support the administrative functions of the Social Workers.


Examples of Duties:


Program Reviews and oversees safety issues for clients.


Assist clients and their natural supports with identifying and accessing community resources.


Promotes client self-sufficiency via education/vocational activities: assessment, skill development, training, and employment seeking/development/coaching/retention.


Participate in family teams to support client’s progress.


Accurately document in writing or electronically, all client related information in a timely manner.


Document and submit client related billing information as necessary.


Maintain current knowledge of area resources and providers, and seek donations from community organizations.


Assist Supervisor and Social Workers with clerical office support including intakes, filing, and waitlists.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Additional Duties Performed by Program Support Associate II


Assists with skill development and daily living functions such as parenting, budgeting, household organization, health and safety issues, etc.


Supports clients/family during crisis or difficult times, may transport client to and from visits or appointments.


Report status and any changes in behavior or signs of abuse/neglect to appropriate staff.


Typical Qualifications:


Education and Experience

A minimum of a 2 year Associate degree in a Human Services related discipline, 1,000 hours experience working with persons with chronic mental illness preferred and moderate experience in human services, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Special Requirements

Must have the ability to obtain certifications as necessary.

Valid Driver’s license


Program Support Associate II Special Requirements & Certifications:

Must maintain valid driver’s license with the minimum state requirement for insurance as well as have a vehicle available for transportation.


Physical Requirements

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, night vision, and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
