SUMMARY:
Counterpart International is currently seeking a Program Associate to support our Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) portfolio. This is a full-time position based in Arlington, VA. This position will report to the Program Officer (PO) for LAC. Under the direction of PO, the PA will support the PO in providing backstopping desk support to the field team, international partners, and headquarters’ based technical teams in matters of administrative, report writing, and financial management tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides backstopping support to the PO.
• Assists in the administration of ongoing program activities from headquarters
• Provides primary support on program reports and outreach material, in the form of editing donor reports and drafting communication and outreach materials such as one pagers and success stories.
• Assists with the editing of program work plans and performance monitoring and evaluation plans.
• Assists the PO in preparing briefing material/program highlights/reports on civil society for interested parties; funders, donors, academic circles, key decision makers and development professions.
• Develops and maintains working relations within Counterpart (Communications, HR, Compliance, Finance, and other program divisions).
• Other duties as assigned
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• Bachelor degree in political science, international development or other related field plus a minimum of five years previous work experience, including short or long-term field experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong internet and computer software skills, including MS Office Suite programs, and web-based research tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in multi-cultural and lingual settings
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with attention to detail
• Ability to travel to provide short-term technical and administrative support as needed
• Strong inter-personal skills
• Fluency in English required
Preferred
• Strong preference for experience in international development programs
• Previous work experience in civil society programs preferable but not required
• Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) strongly preferred
