General Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Residential Coordinators are responsible for providing safe, supportive, and constructive care for the purpose of fostering growth and facilitating the development of our residential clients. The primary role is to provide the appropriate assistance and meet the needs each individual to enable them to live as independently as possible. Specific Duties:
- Assist/monitor/teach individual daily living skills, encouraging adequate personal hygiene, and appropriate behaviors in their home.
- Provide safe and secure transportation services to residential clients in accordance with all Arc and DDSN policies and procedures, while adhering to all traffic laws and public safety standards.
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in meal preparation and clean up.
- Assist clients in housekeeping duties, including, but not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, cleaning of bathrooms and laundry.
- Teach and be supportive of a balanced, healthy nutrition.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, including house staff meetings, and required trainings.
- Teach/monitor individuals self-management skills. (Specifically health, behavior, and budgetary management).
- Demonstrate respect and promote choice for all of the clients we support.
- Act as an appropriate role model and support clients in using appropriate language, appearance, dress, manners, and respect.
- Follow individual treatment plans consistently.
- Report any consumer (individual) abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) or act of omission to the appropriate resource.
- Ready and willing to do what is needed to ensure quality of life for all residential clients.
Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Must be capable of working in a cohesive team.
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Proficiency in technological skills, i.e. Microsoft Office and Google Mail/Calendar are desired.
- Must pass an initial physical exam.
- Must pass initial tuberculosis screening prior to working in a home and annually thereafter.
- Must be able to meet Arc and DDSN requirements for criminal background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record (no major traffic violations and not more than two minor traffic violations) in order to operate agency vehicles.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry 35 lbs, stand and sit for extended periods, bend at the waist and knees, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Must possess the ability to exercise restraint and self-control in potentially volatile situations, including, but not limited to, being confronted verbally and/or physically in a threatening or aggressive manner by the people receiving support. This also includes the ability to deal with and redirect aggressive behavior.
