FHI 360 anticipates a Workforce Activity that will target at-risk youth, ages 17-29, residing in high-crime municipalities of Honduras.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will work with the Chief of Party (COP) to manage the anticipated program’s implementation and oversee its performance, management and operations. The DCOP will assist with high-quality, timely and complete submission of work plans, financial reports, performance reports, etc. The DCOP is expected to assist the Chief of Party in interacting with a range of stakeholders representing the private sector, national and local government, international donors and other U.S. Government agencies. The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co- workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with colleagues.
- Provides overall strategic direction for technical areas of the project and facilitates the achievement of program objectives and targets with management and technical support.
- Directly supervises and coordinates the work of the technical program teams and, and ensures appropriate collaboration across all teams.
- Ensure daily operations of overall program implementation activities are on schedule and that reports, new plans and budgets are prepared with sufficient lead time to get the necessary approvals.
- Demonstrates diplomacy and leadership to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, productivity, creativity, fairness, equity, and innovation, and support for diversity.
- Oversees the production of all English language documents/reports
- Has a passion for developing youth employability solutions and a commitment to technical thought leadership in this area.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to workforce development (e.g., education, economics, international development, organizational development, etc.).
- Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible work experience on youth workforce development, including previous international cooperation experience with efforts to evaluate/understand the labor market environment, mobilize partners/actors nationally and regionally, testing and refining youth employability services
- Technical expertise in youth vocational and technical training, labor markets, etc.
- Demonstrated experience successfully engaging with the private sector;
- Demonstrated experience in working with senior government officials, and local authorities to support a program’s objectives, preferably in Honduras;
- Previous experience implementing international cooperation activities;
- Demonstrated experience working with at-risk youth;
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professionally proficient and fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English
