WFP is currently recruiting for the position of Business Development Assistant, Data to enter and maintain all donor and gift information in the donor management system, ensure the Business Development Team is utilizing the system accurately and effectively, and report on that information to Finance and Administration, Business Development and Executive staff, as required.


The exceptional candidate will demonstrate understanding of organizational priorities, mission, vision, values and strategic goals and objectives, as well as trust and teamwork in all aspects of Water For People business.


Essential Job Functions and Duties


  • Serve as the primary lead for the donor database in order to enhance the organization’s ability to raise money, communicate with donors and track giving

  • Ensure all information in donor database records is current, accurate, and meets organizational standards through:
    • Accurately entering donor information and gifts (cash, check, credit card, in-kind, stock and online)

    • Routine clean-up

    • Working with the Business Development team to keep projections accurate

    • Proactively training users on database use and assisting users in determining more efficient ways to utilize the database

    • Providing support when errors and issues arise

    • Creating and maintaining proper documentation, procedures, and conventions for data and database use


  • Create customized dashboard within donor database for Business Development users to optimize donor portfolio review and management

  • Lead prospect development tracking process with Business Development Relationship Managers (RM) to keep prospect account data accurate and up-to-date, including report pulling, prospect status review, individual RM monthly meetings, etc. and update process as needed

  • Assist in generating year-end donation letters and other solicitation letters, as required

  • Work closely with Finance Department to correctly code donations, reconcile on a monthly basis, and resolve discrepancies

  • Identify data trends and act on them accordingly

  • Identify current donors with greater capacity to refer to the major gifts team, initiating prospect research process

  • Evaluate organizational and user needs and recommend appropriate procedures and solutions utilizing existing organization technology when possible, and other database management system products if necessary

  • Coordinate department database integration into the donor database, ensuring the integrity of information systems and procedures

  • Help identify opportunities for capturing and utilizing new constituent data

  • Design and generate donor/prospect reports and queries to help analyze activities and opportunities within various donor segments for different internal stakeholders including Chief Development Officer, RM, Finance, etc.

  • Review current systems and vendors used against competitive products, conducting cost-benefit analysis, and recommend the best tool for the organization, as appropriate

  • Participate in local Water For People special events

  • Knowledge of domestic and international water, sanitation and health sectors is highly desirable

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • 2+ years of experience in a nonprofit required, within fundraising preferred

  • 2+ years of experience using relational database including querying and reporting required; experience using The Raiser’s Edge software preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required

  • 2+ years of experience with prospect research systems such as WealthEngine or DonorSearch preferred

  • Accurate alpha-numeric typing skills required

  • Advanced computer proficiencies with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook preferred
