United States of America: Project Director - Teen Pregnancy Prevention


Reporting to the Center Director, the Project Director, will oversee the day to day operations of the teen pregnancy prevention intervention, serve as the point of contact for the federal client, manage human and financial resources, ensure the work plan is implemented as prescribed, and manage the youth services referral network. The New Jersey-based Center for Human Services (CHS) office operates under the US-based Health, Education, and Training Programs division. CHS began serving the people of Cumberland County, NJ in 1988 in a manner that acknowledges and respects their cultural norms, values and beliefs, which has resulted in the community trusting CHS to deliver quality services.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Providing overall technical leadership

  • Engaging social, educational, and health organizations for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a referral network

  • Convening and facilitating meetings of the referral network members to assess service coordination, administer training, and identify gaps in the network, and problem solve

  • Participating in training of trainers session to learn the teen pregnancy prevention curriculum

  • Reporting project performance and progress

  • Collaborating with the CHS IRB

  • Contributing to and/or leading business development efforts that result in new or continued business

  • Monitoring and assessing staff and consultant performance

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral, Social, or Health Science, Psychology, Public Health, or related discipline

  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information

  • 6 years of experience managing the implementation of public health interventions and evidence based programs

  • Understanding of youth development and knowledge of adolescent sexuality

  • Experience executing generally accepted Project Management protocols and techniques.

  • Understanding of program monitoring and evaluation concepts and processes

  • Ability to effectively discuss the benefits of a teen pregnancy prevention intervention to parents, youth, and leaders of faith- and community-based organizations

  • Demonstrated collaboration/coalition building

  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve

  • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database entry

  • Ability to provide effective follow-up on individual activities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

  • Effective presentation skills

  • Track record of being able to produce work in a timely manner with flexibility when necessary to adapt to changing work conditions.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

  • Reliable transportation to travel to meetings throughout Cumberland County

  • Federal grant or contract administration is a plus
