Product Director, UNICEF Kid Power
UNICEF Kid Power (Kid Power) is a program of USF and is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors Star Wars: Force for Change and Target, as well as local supporters, parents and fans. Kid Power aims to inspire a new generation of active and healthy global citizens, and consists of a tech-enabled school program for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms, and a retail product and App for families that is defining a new Wearable-for-Good® category.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, UNICEF Ventures, the Product Director will oversee the product roadmap and feature development lifecycle of the UNICEF Kid Power App and be a key member of the product team responsible for user acquisition, conversion and retention. The Product Director will need to understand the Kid Power program and market holistically, be closely connected to end-users (and be the voice of the end-user), ensure alignment between design, development and product marketing teams. The Product Director will also work effectively across all functions of the organization, gather and triage needs for prioritization and sign off, and be a lead contributor to the strategic direction of the program.
The Kid Power program is being developed as an internal startup, with ambitious goals for growth, clearly defined performance targets for team members, and an agile and iterative approach to execution. We are looking for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who can thrive in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable to change, and be able to work independently on a day to day basis.
Employment for this position is dependent upon the continued success of the Kid Power program.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Lead strategic direction for user centered product design, product roadmap and Feature Development Life Cycle, establish a clear vision for a mobile-first customer experience, supporting web tools, and back end platform
Guide a multi-faceted project team (internal/external) through discovery, definition and delivery
Partner with marketing, UX/design and technology to help drive the product development team’s pipeline of product/service ideas for prioritization and execution, manage product release plans with development and business teams, and provide traffic status / updates on product development and release to key internal stakeholders
Partner with internal/external design and UX resources to communicate the product vision, drive creation of wireframes and design comps, lead reviews with key stakeholders, and manage/communicate final decisions
Generate user insights through a variety of methods, including surveys, conversations, analysis of app behavior, user demographics
Use market and user insights, data, research and test results to drive decisions and set priorities for the product roadmap, and manage beta and alpha consumer test groups through a broad range of iterative testing needs
Qualifications:
8 years of experience defining, developing and launching a consumer mobile app (preferably with 50,000+ paid customers), acting as the customer advocate driving functionality and enhancements; deep experience with kids’ (age 8-12) products/platforms; experience in wearables and IoT a plus
5 years of experience driving innovative user experiences via web/mobile and/or other digital media for the end-consumer; experience in fitness and/or entertainment a plus
5 years of experience working within both Scrum/Agile and Waterfall environments, including creating user stories with acceptance criteria and directly interfacing with development team
Experience gathering, interpreting, documenting and prioritizing requirements via process flows, use cases and other artefacts, including working with creative/UX/design teams to create workflows, wireframes and designs that span the web, mobile and tablet user experiences
Experience utilizing analytics to drive decision making; familiarity with CRM systems and marketing automation tools, e.g. Hubspot, Pardot, Marketo, Swrve a plus
Experience with Mobile Development Technologies (iOS and Android), Web and Cloud/Hosted platforms, and experience with various Agile management and process flow tools (GitHub, Jira, Trello/Asana, etc.)
Must be a hands-on, team player who is willing to jump in and work on all aspects of the product life-cycle to achieve success
Must be able to distill complex issues into simple language, translate business requirements into functional requirements, and facilitate decision making across teams
Must be adept at working and interacting with a wide range of stakeholders including senior management, engineering, marketing, and external partners and vendors
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Availability for occasional domestic travel
