CARE USA is looking for the Archivist/Knowledge Manager who is a member of the Brand & Communications team and is charged with identifying, arranging, describing and preserving CARE’s archival records, historical and current, to ensure these materials become and remain discoverable and accessible. These historical archives represent an irreplaceable organizational asset of international importance and a national treasure. This work is intended to assist in the promotion of CARE’s history and brand evolution leading up to the organization’s 75th anniversary (2020) and beyond. The position is also responsible for developing procedures and processes for responsibly gathering, handling and managing records and assets of enduring value, thereby setting standards for organizational behavior in this area into the future.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
• Conducts an initial needs assessment by evaluating current holdings, processes, systems and facilities
• Upon completing an in-depth survey of photographic and video assets in existing collection the Archivist/Knowledge Manager recommends schemes following industry best practices for arranging, describing and formatting for long-term preservation of digital objects within a content management system for effective storage and retrieval
• Based on determined infrastructure needs, technological requirements and organizational desires, the Archivist/Knowledge Manager researches, evaluates and recommends digital asset management solution(s) for the long-term management of photo, video and design assets
• The Archivist/Knowledge Manager serves as the organization’s reference and research expert for the retrieval of legacy materials and development of messages and collateral used in the marketing and promotion of CARE’s 75th anniversary in 2020
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Know-How):
• Bachelor’s Degree in Library Sciences or Information Studies
• Studies in Public History
• 5-7 years’ experience Archive Manager
• 5 years Conservator
• 5-10 year records management
• 3-5 years database administration
• Asset/artifact conservation
• Asset digitization
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Strong research skills
• Proposal writing
