Administrator, Employee Relations job - New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development - Trenton, NJ

Under general direction of the Director, Human Resources, manages and supervises the work operations and functional programs of the Labor Relations Unit; oversees the management advocacy function for all grievance and disciplinary hearings; provides professional and technical information and advice to LWD management and staff; acts as lead representative for the Department in all labor relations and contract negotiation issues at the Office of Administrative Law, Governor’s Office of Employee Relations, Public Employee Relations Commission (PERC) and with union representatives.

Civil Service Commission Requirements:


Open to employees in the competitive division who have an aggregate of one year of continuous permanent service and who meet the open competitive requirements listed below:

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of experience as a labor relations hearing officer or negotiator, three (3) years of which shall have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis.

NOTE: A Master’s degree in Labor Relations, Public Policy, or Business Administration may be substituted for one (1) year of the non-administrative, non-supervisory experience.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
