Mail Room Associate I job - Southwest Airlines - Dallas, TX

Responsibilities:

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:


  • Understands and applies Company policies & procedures for receiving, shipping and processing of orders.

  • Works effectively with other Southwest Airlines departments to develop quality relationships, provide great Customer Service, & provide Mail Room Services to those departments.

  • Understands and applies all proper mail codes to orders.

  • Researches and verifies all orders and processes to correct location.

  • Assists in documenting receipt and delivery of incoming shipments and orders.

  • Assists Customers with information and special needs.

  • Provides internal and external courier service.

  • Operates keyboard, multi-line telephone, facsimile, postage, and copier equipment.

  • Operates licensed vehicles, forklift, banding machine and other warehouse equipment.

Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.


May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.


Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.


Must be at least 18 years of age.


Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.


EDUCATION:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required .

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:

  • Must have a valid drivers license.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Work requires repetitive hand motions.

  • Lift 40 lbs. and bends, stoops, climbs, kneels, stands, and walks for extended periods.


SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

  • Prior Southwest Airlines expereince highly preferred.

  • Previous mail room experience preferred.

  • Previous shipping and receiving experience preferred.

  • Previous experience operating postage equipment preferred.

  • PC data entry skills.

  • Excellent Customer Services skills.

  • Works under direct supervision during peak hours, and limited supervision during non-peak hours.

  • Ability to work non-peak hours and occasional weekends.

  • Effective verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Must demonstrate an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive information.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Able to operate licensed motor vehicle and meet Southwest requirements for operating Company-owned vehicles.

  • Prior experinece operating forklift, banding machines and/or other warehouse equipment.

  • Ability to successfully complete safety and equipment training?

  • Able to work flexible hours.

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
