Medical Communications Group Account Director

THE COMPANY:
We are currently recruiting for one of the UKs most exciting med comms groups. This medical communications company is particularly interesting because they are a relatively new group and through various acquisitions over the last two years have grown to be one of the UK’s largest med comms agency groups. They are part of a large global communications group and employees receive full backing and support that would be expected from a large corporation.
THE ROLE:
• Strong, consistent leadership of the client facing team (of Account Directors, Senior Account Managers, Managers and Executives) to achieve excellence in all aspects of planning and delivery
• Line management of the Account Directors with an ability to manage issues in a timely and effective manner. Ongoing support to the Account Directors regarding their management of their direct reports. Raising of any key performance issues with the Director of Client and Editorial Services, as appropriate
• Overall responsibility for the performance of all allocated accounts: financial performance; defining the strategic direction; delivering all initiatives on time and on budget; ongoing evaluation of deliverables; proactively recommending new business opportunities
• Responsibility for the identification—in collaboration with the client facing team—of training needs and recommendation of appropriate solutions following discussion with the Account Directors and the Director of Client and Editorial Services
• Immediately identify areas of weakness / key issues and to plan and implement remedial strategies, as appropriate
o Overall responsibility for trouble-shooting problem accounts and clients, as and when issues arise
• Responsibility for accurate financial reporting to the Director of Client and Editorial Services and to the Finance Director, in line with defined processes and timings. Ensure appropriate financial responsibility amongst all team members, in accordance with their role
• Monitor forecast and plans in conjunction with Senior Account Managers, Account Managers and Account Executives to ensure business objectives are met, on time and within budget. Ensure the Finance Director is kept up to date with all relevant information and manage financial issues in a timely manner
• Identify, promote and ensure adherence to best-practice working in the team and in their interaction with other internal teams
THE APPLICANT
For this position we are seeking a successful senior client services person with extensive agency experience.
• You should have proven experience of working in medical communications at a senior level
• Experience of managing account directors.
• Ideally have a life science degree
• Strong understanding of ABPI
