Organisation Description

I am currently recruiting for a Shop fit Buyer for a company in Watford. This manufacturing / construction company has been established since 1998 and continues to grow, with many of their clients well known high street brands


Job Description


Successful candidates will be required to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
• Attend any RFQ/RFP meetings with key personnel from the business
• Ability to work from supplied working drawings and ‘take off’ the detail such as component level material specifications and requirements
• Formulate the bid sheets and quote documents for our suppliers including the detailed breakdown to ensure best quote practice and proactive purchasing
• Calculate proposals and quotes – reviewing the quotes from suppliers and benchmarking with own internal estimate based on experience
• Estimate the amount of materials needed and break those into packages suitable for our supply chain
• Negotiating and developing project contracts and putting out tenders;
• Working with detailed diagrams, plans and drawings;
• Communicate and present detail on each project over £50k to key stakeholders (Managing Director, Head of Purchasing)
• Be able to make decisions, meet targets and work under pressure.
• Be able to absorb and assess information quickly.
• Be able to suggest any computerised estimating packages where applicable
• Occasionally, prepare estimated prices based from design intent drawings – only requesting for the drawings to be passed to Technical department if they are unsuitable for estimation/price returns
• Ensure the proposals selected are those that will offer a decent return on the investment
• Ensure sales paperwork is collected upon order to ensure the purchase order can be raised and signed off


Person Specification


DESIRABLE SKILLS
The applicant ideally needs to hold degree relevant to this area which estimating and analyzing skills are the main component.
• The applicant must have in-depth knowledge regarding construction materials, procedures, and costs. Materials are commonly metals, woods, acrylics and lighting.
• Graduate trainings in related work backgrounds will be a big plus to the data analysis aspect.
• Develop relationships with new and existing subcontractors and suppliers
• Negotiates prices and ensures that supply chain remains viable (not over utilising specific suppliers)
• Produce competitive, commercially viable tenders for new and existing clients
• Must be an excellent communicator as buyers interact with different people of all levels in the industry.
• Have good creative ability and an eye for detail.
• Have high levels of stamina
