The Ward Clerk, under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager, acts as a receptionist, answers the telephone, relays messages, assists with keeping nursing records, perform clerical duties of the unit. If the need arises, the ward clerk may perform or assist with the administration of some simple nursing care tasks. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the Department of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice directed by the RN in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community. Qualifications A. EDUCATION 1. High school graduate preferred. B. EXPERIENCE Must have demonstrated proficiency in Ward Clerk skills and duties after orientation. C. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 1. Maintains confidentiality of patient records. 2. Ability to work and communicate effectively with others. 3.
