DUTIES

The Money Counter processes cash collected from MTA transit services. Work includes various responsibilities including preparation of currency, sorting, counting, tallying, and recording of revenue. The Money Counter will operate assorted types of equipment such as: Fork Lift, Coin/Bill Counters, Token Packagers, etc., and will be required to push, pull or otherwise carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds, be able to bend over and crouch down, and stand/sit for extended periods. The Money Counter will be required to drive MTA vehicles around the Baltimore metropolitan area to deliver various MTA materials on a department rotational basis.


This work requires sufficient manual dexterity, speed, and accuracy to ensure that the revenue clerk meets established criteria for work volume. Failure to meet and maintain the volume requirement will result in removal from the position. Individuals assigned in this position must have ability to follow rules, regulations and policies as part of the assigned work duties.


Qualifications:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalency (GED) certificate.


Experience: Must have three (3) years prior experience using an adding machine as a regular part of your daily job duties. This experience must be clearly detailed in your duties on your application.


The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have a minimum of 1 year using a currency/coin counting machine as a part of your daily job duties.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Due to the sensitive nature of the job, employees are assigned to work in a highly regulated and secure windowless environment with constant video surveillance, strict procedures, and restricted access.The Money Counter position is an essential personnel position designated by the MTA to be critical in maintaining the operation of the Money Counting Department during significant service emergencies or adverse weather conditions and the employee must report to work as scheduled. .


TEST

Applicants must receive a passing score on a written examination in order to continue in the selection process.

Licenses & Certifications:


DRIVER’S LICENSE

A driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland and a good driving record are both required; driving record must be within MTA standards (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years; no more than 3 moving violations in the past 5 years; and no more than 4 current points.
