Outreach and Communications Specialist
Tetra Tech ARD, headquartered in Burlington, Vermont (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates to join our Communications Unit and support the Tetra Tech International Development Services (IDS) team. Tetra Tech’s IDS practice plans, designs, implements, and evaluates projects, and conducts research in nine sectors: democracy and governance; natural resources and the environment; agriculture and economic growth; water resources and infrastructure, and land tenure and property rights, rule of law, architecture and engineering, energy services, and security and stabilization. Tetra Tech’s interdisciplinary staff support clients in more than 130 countries to plan, implement, and manage short- and long-term projects, providing practical solutions that build local capacity and ensure measurable results and sustainable development.
The Outreach and Communications Specialist is Tetra Tech ARD’s dedicated coordinator for all Tetra Tech ARD and IDS Washington, DC-related outreach coordination. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for anything related to Tetra Tech ARD and IDS outreach, including: memberships, conferences and events, sponsorships, cost-sharing planning, thought-leadership opportunities, and participation, as well as dissemination of information about upcoming programs and initiatives from relevant associations and organizations. Key objectives of this position are to provide support for Tetra Tech ARD’s marketing, communication and outreach activities and coordination and synchronization among all IDS outreach activities in Washington, DC.
This position will be based in the Arlington, Virginia office.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate overall event planning and management for Tetra Tech ARD and IDS outreach and communication activities, which includes capitalizing on thought leadership opportunities in the DC office event space;
* Coordinate memberships and participation/thought leadership opportunities with PSC, CIDC, USGLC, SID-W, Devex, and InsideNGO which includes coordinating the cost share of memberships and events across IDS;
* Maintain Tetra Tech ARD and IDS Outreach spreadsheet of memberships/sponsorships/participation with each association as well as a cost share breakdown of each initiative;
* Assist Tetra Tech ARD and IDS with the coordination of corporate support for monthly and annual outreach initiatives, as well as ad hoc requests;
* Analyze and disseminate relevant information and event opportunities from PSC, USGLC, CIDC, Devex, SID-W to appropriate Tetra Tech ARD and IDS staff;
* Obtain/coordinate sponsorship and branding opportunities for Tetra Tech ARD and IDS;
* Support development of outreach, communication and marketing materials as assigned by: Tetra Tech ARD Senior Management; the IDS Communications Committee; and the SVP for Washington DC Operations (SVP WDC Ops);
* Manage and support Tetra Tech ARD and IDS social media sites and assist in the implementation of social media campaigns and events to maintain and increase our engagement on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or other related field of study;
* Two to three years of relevant professional experience preferred;
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and perform numerous tasks simultaneously;
* Knowledge of international development field;
* Demonstrated effective and culturally-sensitive skills interacting with customers and partners in the international development arena;
* Highly motivated self-starter;
* Can-do attitude;
* Demonstrated ability to manage internal and client expectations;
* High level proficiency in MS Office applications and social media platforms;
* Knowledge of social media analytics and social media events implementation (e.g. Twitter chats);
* Excellence in critical thinking, writing, and oral communication skills required;
* Foreign language skills considered a plus;
* Ability and desire to do international travel;
* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
