CODING SPECIALIST POSITION DESCRIPTION
Education at Work seeking individuals who enjoy learning and using new technologies. Our ideal candidate is a Computer Science and Computer information Tech Student who is looking to work part-time in a quality analyst role with “one of the world’s largest providers of financial Services.” Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Product Owner and Business Analysts to design and model application frameworks and business logic components
- Write systems and technical design documentation
- Design and develop UI components in Java
- Participate in peer design and document reviews
- Participate in the execution of system validation test plans and in the automation of test cases
- Ability to thrive on a collaborative, cross-functional and self-organized team
- Contribute to ongoing maintenance and bug fixes as needed
- Provide third level support for production issues
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong technical exposure to server side technologies
- Understanding of Java based web development frameworks
- Experiences building web applications with an MVC framework
- Experience using Ruby on Rails or designing tools in Microsoft Visual Basic (or VBA).
- Mobile web and UI design experience with HTML, CSS, and jQuery
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle, including agile methodologies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and formulate recommendations
- Strong collaboration, communication and business relationship skills
- Motivated, self-directed, results oriented
- Passionate and self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and independently
- Team player capable to interact efficiently within multi-disciplinary global engineering team
- “Can-Do” attitude to overcome any kind of challenges
- Ability to take full ownership of tasks and projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce precise, clear and concise documentation
- Knowledge of the Financial Services and Mutual Fund industry is a plus

Position Logistics:
- Must be Sophomore standing or above
- Part-time position averaging 20-25 hours per week around your class schedule
- $11.00 per hour and up to $6,000 per year in tuition assistance based on your GPA
- Must successfully pass drug screening and background check
- Must be current US citizen or permanent resident
- April – Interviews to begin immediately
