Training and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years increasingly responsible experience teaching, providing instruction, or public speaking experience including developing class or program curriculum; fire and life safety education preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, mass media/communication, program development, public speaking, or fire science.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be submitted.
Licenses or Certifications :
Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Ability to obtain CPR certification within one year of employment.
Ability to obtain IS 100, 200, 700, and 800 ICS/NIMS certificates within one year of employment.
Ability to obtain State of Colorado Division of Fire, Prevention, and Control Fire and Life Safety Educator I certification within one year of employment.
Ability to obtain State of Colorado Division of Fire, Prevention, and Control Juvenile Fire setter Intervention Specialist certification within two years of employment.
Ability to attend and successfully complete the R0200 Leadership Strategies for Community Risk Reduction at the National Fire Academy within two years of employment
Physical Conditions:
This position requires work in a variety of locations and conditions including office areas and emergency scenes. The conditions include: working in a sedentary office environment; providing presentations in a variety of settings including inside and outside environments; standing, walking, kneeling, stooping/bending, and lifting; ability to lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds; working in inclement weather and hazardous environments; work some non-traditional hours to include evenings and weekends.
