The Family Planning (FP) and Reproductive Health (RH) Department supports programs in 37 countries (and counting) to deliver high-quality family planning and safe abortion services to women and girls. **We protect our clients’ sexual & reproductive health rights by ensuring informed choice, voluntarism, client confidentiality & privacy, client safety and continuity of care. The Women’s Health Project (WHP) is PSI’s largest global project. WHP aims to increase access to safe abortion services and post abortion care as well as access to long acting reversible contraception in 15 countries throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America.
We are looking for an **Associate Project Manager (APM) for the Women’s Health Project (WHP). This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in program management and budgeting who wants to get more involved on the technical side of things. The APM WHP must be passionate about women’s reproductive health rights, excited to quickly learn and understand the technical aspects of the project, and willing to roll-up his/her sleeves to ensure the smooth programmatic functioning of a highly technical and complex multi-million dollar project. The APM WHP is responsible for providing program management and technical support to WHP countries, and must be ready to tackle the challenge of rallying 15 countries and a team of technical advisors. The WHP APM will also be responsible for lending a programmatic eye to financial management of the project and will work closely with the WHP Financial Analyst. The WHP APM will also take on the role as country lead for at least one WHP country, providing regular check-ins, coordinating TA needs, and helping the in-country team achieve project deliverables. The WHP APM will pro-actively meet programmatic and administrative needs, juggle multiple competing priorities, and enthusiastically ensure smooth and timely flow of work.

Your contribution
You will:
Provide programmatic support to WHP financial management
- Take the lead on technical and programmatic review of project finances, including financial reports, budgets, spending analyses, realignments, and subawards, in close coordination with the WHP Financial Analyst and Core Team.
- Develop project budgets, create tools to monitor Core spending, and build the capacity of the WHP Core Team in the same.
- Calculate and monitor WHP’s cost-effectiveness benchmarks, assist in product/service pricing analysis, and assist in the development of new cost-effectiveness tools and measurements for the project.
- Develop and disseminate WHP financial management and charging guidelines for project countries based on donor priorities.
Support project planning and execution
- Serve as country lead for assigned WHP countries by providing in-depth technical reviews of reports, conducting regular country check-in calls, coordinating TA needs, monitoring workplan activity progress, and helping the in-country team achieve project deliverables.
- Contribute to programmatic decision-making for the project with the WHP Core team.
- Provide WHP project management including reporting, workplanning and proposal development.
- Respond to donor and other requests by gathering, distilling and disseminating relevant information from WHP country teams.
- Support WHP Core Team Technical Advisors in developing technical guidance and tools for project implementation and tracking and monitoring execution of project activities among WHP countries.
- Create strong lines of communications between the WHP Core Team and Regional Support Teams.
- Champion selected topics within WHP and the FP/RH department, such as informed choice.
- Participate in the development of strategic and business plans for the FP/RH department.
- Provide logistics and coordination support for team meetings, WHP regional and global meetings, technical trainings and workshops, etc.
Spread the word
- Revamp and revitalize the WHP Connections newsletter to share project lessons learned, best practices, and innovations with internal and external audiences.
- Develop, maintain and distribute project-related reference materials.
- Prepare presentations, communications, publications, technical briefs, case studies and abstracts and disseminate through a variety of channels, including social media, to support internal and external relations and visibility.
What are we looking for?
The basics
- You have at least two years relevant work experience, including experience in program management and budgeting and a strong interest in technical work.
- You are passionate about working on safe abortion and family planning; previous experience in these areas is highly preferred.
- You have a master’s degree in a relevant subject (MPH, MBA, MIA, etc.) and some overseas work experience.
- You can effortlessly perform a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines, and keep cool under pressure.
- You are highly organized and a self-starter. You strive to make systems better.
- You are fluent in English. Your ability to work in Spanish or French a plus.
- References required.
