The Editor is a member of the Policy, Advocacy, and Communications (PAC) team and handles production of reports and other documents from the raw copy stage through the binding and distribution process, and performs editing of shorter Health Programs Group (HPG) publications. He or she assists technical staff in the preparation of quality documents by providing editorial assessments and performing substantive editing, such as reorganization, rewrites of passages, and accommodating non-native english writers. The Editor is responsible for providing communications editing support to the major tuberculous and other infectious diseases programs as well as for work related to other MSH and HPG projects. He or she adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and last-minute requests to meet team goals. The Editor is responsible for tracking various projects such as quarterly reports and helping the communications team stay on deadline.

Knowledge and Skills
- Solid experience in the editing profession, preferably within an international health-related field.
- Familiarity with document layout, author rights and permissions, research, and fact checking.
- Experience with USAID projects helpful.
- Experience in manuscript assessment to determine a document’s editorial requirements and ability to write scopes of work for freelancers.
- Ability to accurately proofread and review documents for layout and formatting consistency required.
- Proficiency in file management and editorial production.
- Strong Word program skills, including working in track changes and developing table of contents, pagination, and tables. Also intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat helpful.
- Experience in InDesign and data visualization helpful.
- Proficiency in Google docs and file sharing.
- Thorough familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style preferred.
- English fluency required, including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading; proficiency in French and/or Spanish desirable.
