United States of America: Project Coordinator


The Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) is one of three international program divisions at URC/CHS and manages field-based health and development programs through a range of U.S. government funding mechanisms, including USAID, CDC, and MCC. CIT currently supports projects in more than a dozen countries in Southern Africa, Asia, and the Middle East among which is the USAID TBCARE II Global Project.


Job Responsibilities:


The Project Coordinator’s overall responsibility is to provide overall technical, financial and administrative backstopping to CDC funded projects in Southern Africa Region. The coordinator will support other activities/projects as assigned.


Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Provide financial, administrative and technical assistance to the project;

  • Track and analyze project’s technical and finances: obligations, projections, budgets, expenditures and assist other project staff with the preparation of budgets;

  • Work closely with the Corporate Monitor, COP, Country Directors and Administrative team at HQ including (Deputy Director, Director & Program Officers) as well as field staff to monitor program implementation and results;

  • Serve as link and point of contact between URC headquarters, subcontractors/collaborators and the project field office;

  • Carry out field-visits as assigned by the Corporate Monitor and work together with project staff;

  • Track project expenses, review and process monthly field reports, prepare and/or analyze quarterly financial reports, and assist in preparing budgets

  • Alert corporate monitor, COP, team leaders of any potential problems with financial management;

  • Provide technical input on Project reports, deliverables, briefs, posters etc; Assist in planning and development of project reporting deliverables including editing, proofreading, coordinating translation services, and oversee their production schedules as requested;

  • Monitor and assure delivery schedules for technical products are met as requested and required;

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring and briefing of consultants/STTA;

  • Work with corporate staff on contracts and financial issues to facilitate project financial planning and control and maintain staffing;

  • Assure staff and field office compliance with corporate and USAID policies and regulations;

  • Attend periodic meetings at HQ to provide technical and management updates of the project;

  • Participate in meetings to keep abreast of priority field and activity tasks;

  • Plan HQ and U.S. visits of overseas staff as required;

Business Development:


  • Support and/or lead proposal coordination (coordination with partners, communication with proposed personnel, provide inputs to technical narrative etc.)

  • Assist with development of cost proposals

  • Contribute to long term business development strategy for CIT project areas

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor Degree in the field related to Healthcare Administration, International Relations, or Public Health

  • At least two (2) years of work experience in office or project management of similar scope and complexities as well as experience in utilizing budgeting skills and Excel spreadsheets is required.

  • Experience working with USAID or other U.S. government procedures and regulations is preferred.

  • Prior experience working in international settings or peace corps preferred

  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; proficiency in MS Power Point is desired.

  • Individual must be self-motivated and willing to self-direct, Must be able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail, flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy

  • Must have excellent communication skills, good professional judgment and capacity to work well independently and as part of a team.
