GENERAL FUNCTION
ICT Programs is seeking a general-purpose intern to assist with multiple aspects of one of its portfolio projects in East Africa. This internship will be paid, half-time for approximately three months (June-August) and is based in Washington DC. The opportunity will provide the intern with an opportunity to obtain first-hand knowledge and experience with project implementation, contracting, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Under the direction of the Director ICT Programs, Program Coordinator and designated other staff to compile and organize information based internal and donor requirements.
- If directed, update the program management plan which includes entries such as partners, activities, outcomes, outputs, deliverables.
- Provide logistical support for travel, meetings; review expense reports as required.
- Assist in contract preparation, modifications, amendments.
- Assist in report preparation, desk research as requested.
- Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ideal candidate will be in a local undergraduate program with interest in human rights, Internet/communications/media or international development. Experience/interest in East Africa a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening, attention to detail
- The ability to multi-task and work on projects independently.
