Administrative Clerk - Westar Energy - Wichita, KS

Under general supervision of the Director and Managers of the Customer Relations Center, this position provides clerical support. Extensive handling of telephone and written follow up for customer contacts, meeting scheduling, accounts payable and filing; initiating and tracking projects and processes through completion as well as internal customer support projects.

This position will support and handle related duties within the Customer Relations Center and allied departments and requires a high degree of confidentiality. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties


Scheduling and coordination of meetings, maintain and update duty roster



Tracking, posting and maintaining statistics, Westar TV content and recognition tracking such as cross training/shadow days and tours



Weekly Letter compilation from CRC Management for Customer Care VP



Extensive use of computers to develop and maintain multiple databases, spreadsheets & ePower Updates



Provide general information for internal Westar Departments and Vendors



Expense reporting and tracking for CRC Management



May be responsible for maintaining statistical data that will be reported to the Kansas Corporation Commission



Ordering supplies, tracking costs and monthly requisitions



Reporting of facility/ergonomic issues and/or concerns


Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of office and computer experience. Associate’s degree is preferred. Must have two years’ experience in effective one-on-one communication, interpersonal relations, handling anger and conflict, and decision-making. Business writing skills, experience in customer and public relations, and verifiable experience in handling multi-line phones are all required.


Knowledge of Westar Energy rates and a working knowledge of Westar Energy’s Customer Service System (CSS) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and/or Lotus 123 required. Must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job including, but not limited to depth perception, hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, talking, walking, writing, outside work, etc. In addition, candidate must be able to deal with the public, handle multiple priorities, analyze and make decisions with limited data, apply procedures, and operate within short time frames. Must be able to apply facts, tact, diplomacy, reason, logic, and adhere to and comply with all safety rules. Must have an excellent work record including good attendance.


Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Must possess a valid driver’s license. Requires successful completion of EEI Support and Administrative Selection System (SASS) Testing.


Working Conditions:

May be required to work irregular hours when customer related activities require. Normal office working environment.
