TAMKO Building Products, Inc. is seeking a Production Team Member to work at our Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. The Production Team Member is responsible for tending machinery that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing or wrapping product.

The Production Team Member starting wage is $24.91.


Summary of essential job functions

• Operates and monitors all equipment from the Finish Product Looper to the Palletizer Exit Chains.

• Controls Shingle Machine/Laminator speed and helps control material flow.

• Performs quality checks and diverts unsuitable material.

• Operates computer terminals to control machinery functions and monitor quality.

• Operates equipment as assigned and laces up equipment as required by the operation.

• Monitors Finish Looper.

• Has a thorough understanding of tailout and startup procedures.

• Assists Team Leader in operating computer terminal to update and interpret quality control charts.

• Operates and monitors finished product conveyors, Wrapper Machine and Palletizer.

• Responds to equipment failures; adjusts equipment for product and color changes.

• Maintains efficient flow of product.

• Programs and troubleshoots equipment to function properly, complying with the different product demands.

• Hand stacks roofing products weighing 40-50 pounds onto pallets.

• Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers.

• Other duties may be assigned.


Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from 2 year college or technical school is preferred.

• Rotating 12 hour shifts, 7 day per week availability.

• Overtime availability – 48 hours regular, 60 hours peek.

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

• Manufacturing equipment experience – preventative maintenance, bar code scanner.

• Valid driver’s license.

• OSHA training preferred.

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must also be able to climb a 30 ft. ladder, be able to work in confined spaces and wear a respirator. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions, regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes, odors and airborne particles, occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme heat, vibration and confined spaces, acidic and caustic chemicals.
