Job Summary
This HQ position contributes to the vision and mission of the organization and assists and supports the Director of HuRT in the management, development, implementation, and monitoring of Humanitarian responses and projects. As designated by the Director of HuRT, the Manager manages assigned humanitarian programs and supports the administration of HuRT operations. This position serves as a source of contact and liaison for all other departments (Marketing and Development, HR, Finance, IT, Medical Health Product and Volunteer Engagement). The Manager contributes to the overall successful achievement of the strategic and operational plans of Medical Teams International Humanitarian Response Plan.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support Director of HuRT to achieve goals and objectives
- Manage and oversee humanitarian programs as designated
- Strategic planning and resource development
- Ensure program quality and financial accountability
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships
- Build operational and program capacity of humanitarian country program staff and partners
- Conduct rapid needs assessment and develop humanitarian
- When required, lead Humanitarian Assessment and Response Teams into a humanitarian disaster
- Regularly travel to a variety of field locations around the world in support of humanitarian response activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Valid passport
- Driver’s License
- 5+ years’ experience in international humanitarian response operations, with at least four years’ relevant humanitarian experience in the field.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in forging vision and developing strategy.
- Experienced in project cycle management, grant proposal writing and monitoring.
- Proven management skills in supervising staff, strategic planning, meeting goals, and decision-making.
- Successful experience in developing partnerships and working with volunteers.
- Proven ability to conduct needs assessments and work in remote and arduous conditions.
- Commitment to Medical Teams International mission statement.
- Able to contribute and work in a team environment.
- Skilled in leading multi-cultural teams to achieve results.
- Proven experience in Program Manager or Desk Officer position, with demonstrated understanding of International Programs vision and function.
- Experienced in conceptualizing and writing project plans and proposals for donors.
- Ability to prepare, monitor and control budgets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, CRM and other data base programs. Proficient in use of internet and email.
- Detailed oriented, highly organized, ability to work independently in a multi-task environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; flexible.
- Ability to operate well in a fast-paced work environment.
- Available and willing to travel internationally for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible schedule and weekends as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, writing, group facilitation, and communicating cross-culturally with international partners and diverse constituencies.
- Must have the ability to consistently communicate professionally and effectively with all constituents.
Must be eligible to work in the United States and possess a current visa.
