This is professional probation work in providing casework services in a court services program. Work involves a variety of casework duties. Travel is required. Duties may include:
- investigating, supervising, and counseling individuals on or anticipating probation to facilitate their personal, social, and economic adjustment in the community;
- handling an assigned caseload in investigations;
- supervising cases involving probationers and recommending termination or extension of probation;
- interviewing clients, their families, and interested individuals to determine nature of their environmental, employment, financial, or marital difficulties;
- formulating plans of probation and presenting written or oral recommendations;
- arranging for court appearances for clients and families;
- advising clients of available community resources;
- performing related work as required.
- handling various case areas including but not limited to adult, juvenile, intensive, interstate compact, alternative sentencing programs or drug court, either concurrently or exclusively as assigned by the court;
- performs other work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position will be required to work hours during evenings and weekends, as necessary. Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, psychology, sociology or a closely related field; experience in probation, parole, social casework, counseling or a closely related field is preferred.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is required for employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- principles of probation work and related court procedures;
- professional probation objectives and techniques;
- state laws affecting probation work;
- computer applications to include Email, WORD, and EXCEL.
Ability to:
- utilize effectively available resources and services in connection with a rehabilitation plan.
