- Knowledge of patient referral/authorizations and commonly used insurance concepts, practice and processes.
- Understands health insurance process to facilitate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for scheduling new and return appointments.
- Verifies encounter slips for correct paperwork and reconciles daily schedules to fee tickets.
- Collects patient responsible balances at check out.
- Cover phones and check-in desk as necessary;
- Maintain and balances cash drawer.
- Create new patient packets and/or charts as necessary.
- Gather no-show encounter slips and document missed appointment in computer.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Monitor work responsibilities; implement processes to ensure efficient flow of patients.
- May be assigned other minor office tasks.
Education, Training and Experience Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a medical office environment. Computer experience with Medical Manager helpful. Bilingual in Spanish a plus. Effective problem solving skills are essential.
