JOB GOALS:
The primary role of the Leader In Training is to develop and demonstrate the skills necessary to successfully manage a QuickChek Food Store. The Leader In Training is to assist the Store Leader in the smooth and profitable operation of a store, assist in the development and training of store team members, demonstrate the ability to deliver Total Customer Dedication (TCD), ensure food service programs comply with company standards and the store is in compliance with company operating procedures. In the absence of the Store Leader, the Leader In Training is responsible for the successful operation of the store.
STATUS:
The Leader In Training is in the selection pool for the Store Leader position.
The Leader In Training reports directly to the Store Leader and to the District Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Business Operations:
Logs and approves daily vendor invoices.
Sends, receives and reviews store mail & e-mail communications.
Maintains positive customer and team member relations, provides discipline and recognition, ensures compliance to uniform and personal grooming standards.
Supports new marketing programs and item distributions.
Keeps company informed of maintenance issues.
Ensures compliance with established sales, gross profit, wages, cash control, inventory levels and shrink objectives.
Focuses on community relations.
Follows, team member and customer safety, quality assurance standards.
Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies. (i.e. board of health, fire dept, OSHA, federal and state agencies, labor board, weights and measures)
Maintains proper levels of inventory in all departments.
Controls damages, spoils, shrink, merchandising, store conditions, accurate pricing and promotions.
Accurately processes invoices, payroll, transfers, change of status, team member reviews, vacation requests, etc. Maintaining Financial Operations:
Prepares cash and sales reports on timely basis each day.
Prepares and makes cash deposits as needed.
Verifies cash, lottery and money orders on beginning and end of every shift.
Makes and ensures that safe checks and balances occur on the beginning and end of each shift.
Travels to bank with deposits and for change as needed.
Understands budget, sales and gross profit.
Sets quarterly objectives and budgets with district leader.
Opens and/or closes store as necessary.
Prepares and participates in periodic store inventories. Managing & Developing Team Members:
Motivates team members and provides team member recognition.
Delegates, oversees and assures completion of work assignments.
Ensures team member awareness of company policies.
Enforces company policies.
Creates a positive, productive work environment.
Responsible for recruiting/hiring qualified store personnel.
Properly trains and develops team members in essential job functions.
Prepares and performs team member evaluations in a timely manner.
Attends required QuickChek training programs.
Ensures store team members attend required training.
Encourages team members to participate in company events.
Achieves team member turnover targets. Possessing Knowledge of Computer Applications:
Operates safe, cash register, calculator, lottery and money order machine.
Operates Telxon machine.
Operates Windows-based cash control and inventory program.
Prepares miscellaneous reports. Ensuring Clean, Safe Store Operations:
Unloads truck deliveries and packs out orders as needed.
Orders inventory as needed.
Ensures on a regular basis that interior and exterior store conditions are clean. (i.e. shelves, floors, work stations, bathrooms, parking lot, fixtures, freezer, etc.)
Checks-in vendor deliveries while following company procedures.
Covers or provides employee coverage to a shift when call-outs occur.
Covers and assigns breaks to team members.
Maintains low shrink by: *Reducing waste and spoilage – *Controlling employee, customer and vendor theft – *Ensuring accuracy in paperwork
Maintains focus on increasing sales.
Follows and enforces all loss prevention policies and procedures.
Maintains proper sanitation procedures.
Travels to other stores as needed.
Other duties as assigned. Demonstrating Total Customer Dedication:
Provides excellent customer service/relations.
Tends to customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly manner.
Resolves customer complaints and inquiries.
Promotes a fresh, friendly and clean store image. (sweeps, mops and cleans)
Maintains freshness of all products. (bakery, deli, branded foods, dairy, etc.)
Assures safety of customers and team members.
Adheres to proper uniform standards for self and team members. Qualifications:
Timely arrival & excellent attendance record.
Basic computer and calculator skills.
Able to lift fifty-two pounds.
Able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Perform basic math and accurate record keeping functions at high school level.
Have reliable transportation.
Flexibility and dependability.
Ability to focus on numerous tasks simultaneously.
Maintain control in adverse situations.
Possess good interpersonal skills and communicate effectively.
Awareness and reaction to industry and seasonal trends. Education/Experience:
Graduate of high school or G.E.D.
