Position Purpose
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Social Enterprise Development Officer will develop a social enterprise acceleration approach (a combination of training, mentoring, network development, and investor connections) and source early-stage impact enterprises from Pact’s network around the world, starting with Ukraine, Myanmar, and Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design
•Building on Pact Ventures’ existing research on best practices in social enterprise strengthening, complete a program design process for social enterprise incubation that includes training, mentoring, network development, and investor connections
•Work with Blended Finance Officer to develop revenue drivers as a component of the design
•Pilot, test, and iterate the approach in key markets
•Adapt the core program design for specific funded opportunities
Training and Mentoring
•Work directly with Pact Ventures portfolio companies in a mentoring capacity
•Create original training materials and resources for Pact Ventures partner training events, in partnership with Pact’s Capacity Development team
•Develop a network development approach to reinforce connections between portfolio enterprises and with other important ecosystem players
Enterprise Sourcing
•Work with team to develop criteria for enterprise selection based on impact investor criteria
•Develop in-country networks in key countries, including Pact country offices, existing social enterprise networks and hubs, incubators/accelerators, and investors
•Build Pact Ventures pipeline of high-potential, early-stage enterprises, aligned with criteria
Measurement
•Work with Pact’s Results and Measurement team to develop a measurement approach for the initiative, including success factors common to the field, such as IRIS metrics and the Global Accelerator Learning Initiative
Partnership Development
•Identify and connect with other companies and organizations with whom Pact Ventures has aligned goals and design creative partnerships to advance the mutual aspects of our mission
•Identify and create relationships with mission-aligned impact investing firms
Basic Requirements
•A sincere commitment to Pact’s mission
•A demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally with collegiality, humility, and respect
•Bachelors degree and at least 3-5 years of work experience
•Experience working in either a social enterprise or incubator/accelerator or in investing or management consulting
•Experience creating and delivering training materials
•Experience designing a new program or launching a new product offering
•Strong facilitation skills
•Willingness to travel 10-20%
Preferred Qualifications
•MBA or Masters Degree
•Experience working in offices with a Pact country office, especially Ukraine, Myanmar, or Nigeria
•Proficiency in a second language, with preference for Ukrainian or Russian
