The team is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). Strategic Sourcing is responsible to help determine the best technology that drives the lowest TCO to support Microsoft’s Cloud Infrastructure. In this role you have the opportunity to make an impact in the selection and optimization of the Network Hardware that makes the Cloud Infrastructure a competitive advantage for Microsoft.  

The specific roles and responsibilities of the position include:

•      You will own the responsibility to develop an overall sourcing strategy for acquisition of network hardware and related maintenance services.

•      You will own driving the supplier selection process in support of our global deployment and operations processes.  

•      Ensure global competitive environment and supplier procurement strategies are in place.

•      You will analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit Microsoft.

•      You will identify, negotiate and close contracts with suppliers and vendors in tandem with business, technical and legal teams.

•      You must be able to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents including online service and MCIO engineering groups as well as with many constituents from initial qualification to end-of-life.

•      You will be held accountable for achieving commitments on total cost results, quality and compliance adherence, and on-time delivery.

•      You will communicate progress proactively and timely to many levels of the business hierarchy (engineers, finance, executive management, etc.)

Skills and Qualifications:

•      Strong combination of business and technical knowledge base, including expertise in market analysis to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, technology replacements /forecasts, pricing trends, etc. to formulate sourcing strategies, particularly for specific spend commodities.

•      Self-starter and results orientation with proven engineering and/or operational experience with switches, routers, WDM systems.

•      Team player with deep cross-group collaboration and project management skills, with experience developing efficient work plans for complex projects involving many groups, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

•      Exceptional leadership, particularly in complex, international, and cross functional teams worldwide.

•      Advanced conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

•      Ability to manage challenging expectations effectively and resolve conflicts efficiently.

•      Exceptional interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills.

•      Relentless drive to overachieve and no excuses professional. Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial, hands-on spirit.

Experience Required:

•      Five years of experience with demonstrated excellence in strategic negotiations and/or business development obtaining services from high-technology providers globally, preferably with large scale investments (multi hundred million portfolio).

•      Strong business case development, analysis and problem solving skills.

•      Bachelor's degree in engineering or business

The Manufacturing, and Supply Chain (MSC) group is looking for a Sourcing Manager that will be responsible for development and execution of:

-   MARKET LEADING SOURCING STRATEGY in the assigned category via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, predictable and industry leading “commodity” pricing plan, TCO cost modeling through transparent supplier relationship, and 6-Sigma principles to drive efficiency and cost.

-   SECURED COMPONENTS AND/OR SERVICES in the assigned category that will provide competitive advantage in both technology and cost for Microsoft.

-   MOST AGGRESSIVE AND CLOSEST-TO-THE-PIN COSTING AND PROJECTIONS. Ability to standup to the most aggressive alternatives, doubts and scrutiny.

-   Expertise in market analysis, SOURCING PLAN, to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, technology replacements/forecasts, pricing trends, etc. to formulate sourcing strategies.

-   Expertise in Financial Statement Analysis to derive SHOULD-COST-MODELS and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers before RFx is conducted.

-   Bottom’s up process costing utilizing Activity Based Costing and other methodologies to build should-cost models.

-   Professional experiences in “owned” factory operations and COST ACCOUNTING.   Make vs. Buy experiences a plus.

-   Superior Project/Timeline (Consumer Electronics Integrated Project Management) adherence experiences.

-   Expertise in Supply Chain Operation’s flexibility/capacity to articulate appropriate contractual T&Cs and costs.  

-   Contract and price negotiations excellence

-   Deliver best in class TCO (Total-Cost-Ownership), COS (Continuity-Of-Supply), and BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

Education/Other Requirements:

-   MBA or Equivalent Experience.

-   Must be a BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL with strong ENGINEERING expertise.

-   Quick learner of Microsoft systems and processes.

The Role

• analyse, control and manage spend, pricing and sourcing market development

• build database models and tools for tracking of spend, savings, purchase price variance and value chain analysis

• extract data liaising with Kwintet entities, vendors and sourcing team

• identify and understand requirements, develop and present solutions, implement and install reporting routines.

Another important role for you will be to assist Sourcing team and management with analytical platform and reports to support the Groups procurement activities. You will report directly to Head of Strategic Sourcing and you will become a part of his management team.

Your Background
You have a university degree in Business Administration, Logistics, SCM or Engineering with one or two years working experience. It is very important that you are fluent in both written and spoken English. You have strong analytical and communication skills and are highly structured. Further you are thorough and systematic and have an ability to gather and work with large amounts of data and making analysis from them. Your level of IT and technology is high and your skills in Excel, Access and database administration are excellent. Finally we are looking for a team player with a high level of energy, a strong drive and who do not mind hard work.
