Under the direction of the Human Resources Director or designee, performs a variety of moderately complex and confidential administrative duties to ensure smooth, timely and efficient office operations; researches, collects, analyzes and compiles data and information; authors reports; maintains records, files, and budgets related to human resources operations, programs, and expenditures; compiles and organizes information from various sources, screens phone calls, visitors, and mail, and directs questions to the appropriate staff; coordinates and maintains division web page design; develops and maintains records management systems, and provides technical and functional direction to lower-level office support staff as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by two (2) years of college-level course work in business administration, office management, secretarial training or related field.

  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative office support experience, including, at least one (1) year in a lead administrative office support position.

  • Intermediate proficiency (advanced preferred) in Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint with a working knowledge of Access, and ability to type 50 wpm with accuracy.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license upon hire date.

  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to obtain Notary certification.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in business administration, public administration, human resources or closely related field.

  • Prior working knowledge in a public sector human resources environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Supplemental Information:


Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing commensurate to the position, and an interview process. Final candidate selected will be required to pass a comprehensive background/reference check.
