McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top-Tier Accountancy Firm who are looking for a Personal Tax Manager to join their growing team near High Wycombe. Reporting to the Tax Partner, the role would ideally suit a Qualified Accountant with ATT/CTA qualification (or equivalent) from another small- to mid-tier Accountancy Firm. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients, provide assistance to Directors & Partners in both client work and special assignments on an ad-hoc basis. Key duties include:
- Managing a portfolio of Personal clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria
- Reviewing tax work prepared by more junior members of staff with the team
- Liaising with HMRC in relation to complex tax returns
- Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keeping clients/Partners informed of overruns
- Ensure that the firms quality control procedures are adhered to
- Identifying risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner & Senior Manager, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
- Assist Partners in the management of the group, including support with the recruitment and management of staff
- Recognise business development opportunities and work with the Partner and client to develop these when they arise
- Participate in bids/proposals for new personal tax compliance work
To be considered for the role, you should have proven experience in a personal tax manager role with the ability to deal with a wide range of client and technical tax issues. Experience of supervising/managing staff and reviewing tax work is essential, and you should maintain an in-depth, up to date knowledge of taxation. Educated to degree level, and ideally CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent), you should also have strong internal team-work and external relationship building skills, be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
