United States of America: HIV/AIDS technical director



Chemonics seeks an HIV/AIDS technical director for our newly formed Global Health Division. The director will be responsible for building the company’s capacity in HIV/AIDS programming and contributing to new business development and project management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record for leading project management and technical assistance for global health and HIV/AIDS activities that have a significant value for USAID and other donors, and have significant proposal development experience and a strategic outlook on business development. We are looking for individuals that have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.


Responsibilities include:


  • Track, analyze, and share development trends and priorities within the HIV/AIDS sector

  • Disseminate client initiatives, strategies, and approaches for consideration and integration into proposals and projects

  • Formulate approaches to guide Chemonics’ work, new business efforts, and technical assignments

  • Contribute to industry forums, technical working groups, conferences, learning events, and blogs

  • Lead development of technical abstracts, articles, primers, tools, and summaries of Chemonics’ approaches in HIV/AIDS programming

  • Develop effective working relationships with key clients, including USAID technical staff, strategic partners, and stakeholders

  • Contribute to proposal strategies and content proposal strategies and content

  • Provide and facilitate provision of technical support to Chemonics’ project deliverables by undertaking technical assignments, reviewing scopes of work, and helping overseas staff apply good technical principles

  • Promote staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities; delegate, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff

Qualifications:


  • ​Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum eight years of experience in HIV/AIDS technical programming

  • Knowledge of industry trends, donor initiatives, and industry organizations

  • Experience giving public presentations and contributing to publications

  • Ability to manage working relationships with clients, partners, and technical experts

  • Willingness to travel a minimum of four to eight weeks per year

  • Experience working​ on technical programs in developing countries

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

  • Proficiency in a foreign language preferred
