Project Summary:


In fall 2015, MSI was awarded a multi-year contract by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to provide professional and organization development services. MCC is an independent U.S. Government agency established by Congress in 2004 to reduce poverty through economic growth. For more information about MCC, visit the MCC website at: https://www.mcc.gov/ . Under the MCC POD project, MSI provides training on a variety of topics including project management. MCC staff value the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which enjoys a special status in the agency.


Position Summary:


MSI has an immediate need for an instructor and curriculum designer to design and deliver a five day course in project management that meets the Project Management Institute’s requirements for a PMP course, yet is customized to the needs of MCC staff who provide oversight to compact agreements (up to $700 million) in developing countries. The course will include the PMP core curriculum to ensure that participants will get the required 35 credit hours in project management training in order to prepare the individual to take and pass the rigorous PMP Certification Exam.


There will be two offerings of the course: 1) June 2016; 2) September 2016. The course will run from 9:00-4:30 daily. Development of the course curriculum will begin no later than March 2016.


This is not a full-time or salaried position. The trainer and/or curriculum designer will be contracted solely for this work. MSI’s Project Director and other staff will serve as resources and provide information (as needed) about MCC’s staff, organization, and projects to help the curriculum designer customize the course to the MCC context.


Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop the PMP Certificate course, customized to the work implemented by MCC.

  • Develop training materials; including presentations, a participant manual, handouts, and exercises.

  • Develop a trainer’s guide for the course.

  • Conduct customized PMP training, particularly as it relates to MCC programs in compact countries.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on PMP content throughout the course.

Qualifications:


  • The PMP Instructor/Curriculum Designer must be a certified PMP instructor or a Registered Education Provider with the Project Management Institute.

  • S/he must also have a minimum of 10 years of experience in facilitating training/workshops.

  • S/he should have a bachelor’s degree in international development, project management or a related field to international work.

  • S/he must have at least 5 years of experience in international development programming.

  • Prior experience working with MCC and familiarity with MCC programming is a plus.
