GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:


The Partnerships & Development team is playing a critical role in identifying new areas of collaboration and leveraging resources to expand the scope and impact of LMH’s transformative work in Liberia. In the face of the Ebola crisis, the Partnerships & Development team is accelerating its priorities to position LMH to make a lasting, significant contribution to the lives of those in Liberia’s most remote communities. The Development Associate is a critical member of the Partnerships & Development team, responsible for supporting the Chief Development Officer (CDO) with administration of the Partnerships & Development Department, providing research and prospecting support to Senior Leadership around prospective partnerships and external engagements, and providing support to the Development Officer in the management of philanthropic relationships (ie. Salesforce) and the delivery of the Major Gifts Program.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Support the Development Officer and other members of the Partnerships and Development department to support the creation and implementation of a Major Gifts Program

  • Support the CDO by scheduling calls, meetings, appointments, interviews and speaking arrangements

  • Assist in setting up and managing domestic and international calls

  • Manage items requiring CDO’s formal review, approval, signature or document retention

  • Courteously and professionally represent LMH through management of the CDO’s e-mail and telephone correspondence

  • Respond to e-mails and efficiently route inquiries to appropriate staff members

  • Assist as needed in the development of grant proposals, concept notes, program materials, donor reports and prospecting materials to support network cultivation and partner stewardship

  • Track and manage the CDO’s travel arrangements and schedule, and follow-up with travel-related reimbursements

  • Assist in the planning, development, and management of engagement events and activities to recognize and motivate current and prospective donors

  • Support the CDO and Development Officer’s use of Salesforce

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in international development or global health preferred


  • At least one year of working and/or internship experience with an international development or global health NGO




  • Strong project management experience




  • Experience with grant research, writing, and reporting desirable




  • Strong knowledge and experience in Salesforce or other customer/donor relationship management software




  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)



  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Independence and ability to advance projects under own initiative

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across teams and countries

  • Generosity of spirit, sensitivity/diplomacy, and willingness to make sacrifices in service of the mission

  • Commitment to health and social justice

  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks at one time in a time-sensitive manner

  • Comfort working with a casual but high-performing team

  • High degree of English fluency required

Reports directly to: Development Officer


Commitment: 40 hours/week


Location: New York City, NY


Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
