Position Description: The position of Purchasing Agent/Buyer will coordinate the procurement of a portfolio of beverage items, working with various departments within the companies. They will help analyze, improve or develop processes to improve purchasing, thereby reducing out of stocks and also reducing the current inventory loss percentage.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is desired. Degree in Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- Craft Beer knowledge required.
- Must have previous logistics experience.
- Must be articulate, organized, and detail-oriented, as well as possess strong mathematical aptitude.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work and communicate with all levels of staff.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience in the beverage, dry goods or fresh food industries
- Proven history of working in an 8,000+ SKU operation.
- Experience with a major corporate entity preferred.
* Responsibilities:
- Maintain and accurately updates the purchasing database(s).
- Work with team members to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Facilitate and participate in forecasting sales to arrive at proper inventory levels.
- Creates and maintains purchase requisitions.
- Process purchase orders, requisitions, and bid requests.
- Communicate with vendors on status of outstanding orders as well as discrepancies with quality and quantity on receipts.
- Work with accounting to resolve invoice issues when required.
- Stay abreast of trends and market conditions for present and future pricing, availability, lead-time and capacity of goods and services.
- Comply with company policy and procedures.
- Review, approve and update freight rates in regard to company portfolio of products.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the full scope of the Purchasing function including procedure and policy.
