United States of America: Project Director - Global Anti-Corruption Consortium


Internews seeks a senior-level project director to lead an anticipated 24-36 month global project to support civil society-led investigations and efforts combating endemic, high-level corruption. The Project Director will manage a project team, provide strategic and technical oversight, and oversee a consortium consisting of international, regional, and local investigative journalism centers, associations, and networks as well as anti-corruption NGOs to achieve the following project objectives:


  • Expanded global partnerships and mechanisms for information sharing between and among pre-existing networks of investigative journalists and editors, and anti-corruption NGOs.

  • Increased effectiveness of civil society led investigations, including investigative journalists, independent media entities, and anti-corruption NGOs in uncovering and reporting on corruption.

  • Increased levels of legally actionable information on corruption available for use by watchdog organizations, governments and international organizations.

  • Increased effectiveness of anti-corruption and transparency NGOs in using uncovered information to pursue and/or facilitate action by government and international organizations to combat and deter corruption.

Note: Hiring of position is contingent upon Internews winning project award.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The Project Director will have two primary responsibilities: 1) Management and oversight of project implementation and 2) Providing strategic and technical oversight of design and delivery of capacity building and other technical assistance to investigative journalist and anti-corruption civil society activists.


1) Project Management


  • Manage day-to-day project implementation and project team consisting of technical experts as well as financial and administrative support personnel.

  • Act a primary point of contact with consortium members.

  • Act as primary point of contact with funders regarding technical deliverables and financial oversight.

  • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to design and implement Project M&E plan.

  • Oversee production of quarterly and annual reports to funders.

2) Strategic and Technical Oversight


  • Work closely with the project’s Senior Technical Advisor to design, rollout and monitor annual workplan.

  • Advise and participate in developing the technical approach to delivery of training and technical and financial support to sub-grantees.

  • As needed, deliver selected trainings and mentor investigative journalists receiving sub-grant and technical support through the project.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in investigative journalism and media development.

  • Strong connections to/relationship with global and regional investigative journalism networks and knowledge of anti-corruption stakeholders.

  • Previous experience managing donor funded projects with a strong reputation for developing excellent collaborative working relationships with counterparts, other implementers and international organizations and donors.

  • University degree preferred but not required.

  • Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.
