College Services Associate (3 Positions) - Mohawk Valley Community College - Utica, NY

Each of the following centers/departments has one vacancy:

Center for Life and Health Sciences – Utica Campus


Nursing and Allied Health Office- Utica Campus


Student Services Center – Rome Campus


Applicants must currently hold an Oneida County Civil Service College Services Associate title;


OR be eligible for appointment from the Oneida County Civil Service list for the same title;


OR meet the requirements for a provisional appointment pending successful completion of the College Services Associate competitive Oneida County Civil Service examination.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Either:


Bachelor’s degree AND one (1) year of experience working in a complex business setting, providing face-to-face multi-level customer service*, including advising and guiding customers preferred; OR


Associate’s degree from an accredited institution AND three (3) years of experience working in a complex business setting, providing face-to-face multi-level customer service*, including advising and guiding customers; OR


High school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND five (5) years of related experience working in a complex business setting, providing face-to-face multi-level customer service*, including advising and guiding customers;


*Note: Entry-level cashier and call center experience, or experience with limited transactions, are not acceptable qualifications for this position.


Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Serves as front line representative to students and advises and guides students on the appropriate college processes and procedures.

• Maintains multiple departmental calendars, files, and records.

• Works independently and collaboratively on departmental projects.

• Other duties as assigned.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Working knowledge of office practices and procedures;

• Working knowledge of College policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources, student life, and support services;

• Skill in organizing, coordinating and prioritizing projects;

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;

• Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills;

• Ability to work with a diverse population;

• Ability to identify students’ needs for services in order to make appropriate referrals;

• Ability to operate a personal computer and to learn and use a variety of software packages; ability to maintain confidentiality.
