Agribusiness Systems International (ASI) is a support institution of ACDI/VOCA that manages its own finances, logistical operations and portfolio of programs. While ASI works closely with ACDI/VOCA, both technical and logistically, we are an independent company with a small staff size that must be multi-functional and adaptive.
We are seeking a D.C.-based Financial Assistant who will be responsible for supporting Agribusiness Systems International’s (ASI) financial and accounting operations, projects, and proposal teams.
Essential Responsibilities:
Accounting Support
• Perform administrative duties including copying, filing, emailing, organizing, and other related activities for the Accounting and Finance division.
• Record, document, and research as required. Respond to staff inquiries related to specific transactions and financial reports. Research accounting records and related analyses when necessary.
• Enter invoices into QuickBooks and maintain proper billing files and invoice log
• Review financial journals to ensure they are complete and in compliance with ASI accounting standards
• Review and process vender and internal invoices and payments requests;
• Prepare journal entries/transfers and enter transactions into QuickBooks
• With assistance, review monthly financial reports from field offices and enter approved transactions into QuickBooks
• Review and reconcile corporate and field office bank statements
• Review and process Travel and General expense reports;
• Prepare checks and payment requests;
• As needed, collate financial information and reports for project and/or corporate audit
Proposal Support
• Provide administrative and clerical assistance to New Business Development proposal teams; examples are formatting CVs, collecting documents, assembling proposals
• Research and generate drafts of background reports
• Under guidance, develop elements of the proposal budget
• Under guidance, serve as a proposal coordinator on new proposals
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other related field.
• Minimum of six (6) months’ work experience in a professional office environment.
• Demonstrated interest in international development topics and current issues.
• Demonstrated excellence in oral, written and reading comprehension abilities.
• Fluency in English and French required.

• Ability to maintain hard copy and electronic files in an organized manner.
• Ability to successfully interact and work with all levels of the organization and client in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate to management in a professional manner.
• Detail oriented and self-directed.
• Ability to proactively problem-solve.
