Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development, and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil societies. ACDI/VOCA has approximately 50 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of approximately $174 million.
We are seeking a D.C.-based International Recruiter who will work alongside technical and new business teams at ACDI/VOCA to find the best possible personnel for proposals and projects. This position will be responsible for timely, full-cycle recruiting for proposals and projects, with a focus on bids for new business.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Identifies candidates through database searches, advertising and networking
• Conducts initial screening of lead candidates through in-person and phone interviews
• Solicits information to update and amplify CVs and complete necessary paperwork for donors
• Edits/reworks CVs to show relevant skills and experience of long-term specialists proposed on bids and for projects
• Ensures employment verifications and reference checks
• Drafts staffing/personnel chapters of proposals, as needed
• Initiates negotiations regarding compensation within the parameters of ACDI/VOCA’s policies; closes negotiations on approval by proposal/proposal manager
• Maintains contact with proposed candidates during the bid process up through award
• Fully tracks each recruitment effort in the recruitment database and documents all activity for assigned recruitment initiatives
• Collaborates with ACDI/VOCA’s staff to understand and prioritize upcoming proposal opportunities
• Builds and maintains networks of specialists
• Assists with off-site recruitment and networking events
• Supports strong and consistent outreach to specialists by ACDI/VOCA by capturing contacts in the recruitment database
• Channels strong examples of personnel chapters or charts to the proposal library
• Reports regularly on recruitment activities
• Develops and carries out related components of the department’s annual plan, continuous improvement plan and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, international relations, or other related field
• Minimum three years’ work experience in international development and/or recruitment
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
• English language fluency
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally
Preferred:
• Experience with hiring and procurement practices of USAID
• French language working proficiency or fluency
