The Senior Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations plays a key role in building relationships with corporations and foundations to develop programs that align to MSH’s mission. This individual will be instrumental in forming creative partnerships to address global health problems that support our mission of saving lives and improving health of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.
Specific Responsibilities
Build Capacity of MSH to develop corporate partnerships (10%)
- Support and actively participate in the development of an internal capacity-building program at MSH with select staff members (Global Technical Leads, Technical Staff, and Country Representatives). Increase internal understanding of and promote the value the private sector and its contributions to sustainable health impact, as well as the mechanisms through which these clients operate. The objective will be to inspire internal partners to take positive action toward achieving shared goals in a coordinated way.
Private Sector Business Development (50%)
- Lead account management support for major foundation and corporate partners, including managing client contacts and engagement, preparing relevant materials that are response to client needs, and provide on-going management of the account to ensure regular and consistent engagement by MSH senior staff with the Client organization.
- Working in collaboration with Senior Leadership and Global Technical Leads the Senior Manager, support engagement opportunities and link with key internal stakeholders to develop successful programs/partnerships. Support the tracking, managing and documenting of engagement activities working to link MSH product/program opportunities with the requirements of potential clients.
- Track trends and emerging thinking in the area of public private partnerships or private-private partnerships that allow MSH to bring innovative solutions to the field. Work with Senior Leadership to position MSH as a leader in this area and help Global Technical Leads link our program work with emerging trends.
- Support the development of Private Sector strategies for Public Sector bids as required.
Develop winning proposals for private sector clients (40%)
- Support the creation of concept notes, proposals or other materials for large foundations and corporations, drawing upon corporate resources from various teams. Working with technical staff members and Country Representatives, write and edit concept notes for these donors.
Ensure coordination of efforts through documentation of contacts, opportunities, and meetings in Salesforce, as well as through active participation in MSH’s “go-no go” process for evaluating promising opportunities.
Postgraduate education in a field of study closely related to the assigned responsibilities is required.
- 8 years of experience in business development, grant-writing, or working with foundations and corporations on international development issues, with at least two years of management experience.
- Experience working with international health, development or humanitarian agencies.
Preferred
- Strong preference for progressively responsible professional experience in the global health arena.
- Strong preference for someone with field experience in global health arena and/or prior relationships with major global health foundations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate highly technical information into simple, clear and compelling language.
- Proven skill in researching and analyzing industry needs, synthesizing information, and developing appropriate programmatic solutions and strategies.
- Excellent oral communication skills with the demonstrated ability to professionally present to foundation and corporate leaders.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Strong preference for French or Spanish language skills.

- Demonstrated good judgment and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work proactively.
- Proven success in supporting successful pitches, and writing winning concept notes and proposals.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with others and maintain strong relationships with foundation officers and grant-makers.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with partner organizations strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to mobilize cross-organizational resources; align individuals; and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Physical Demands
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
- Keyboard use, pulling drawers, lifting papers <10lbs., etc.
